Nigerian singer Brymo has urged his contemporaries Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy to step back from the spotlight and give younger artists room to lead the pop scene.
Speaking in a recent interview with TVC, the Ara crooner criticized what he called the “Big 3” narrative, accusing the trio of trying to control the industry and remain relevant indefinitely. He argued that the conversation around Nigerian pop should shift toward rising stars like Rema.
Brymo said the industry should stop focusing on claims that new artists lack lyrical substance and instead address efforts by some established acts to lock down the scene for themselves.

“We need to stop talking about how the new artists don’t have lyrical substance and focus on how some artists want to lock down the industry for themselves with the ‘Big 3’ narrative and continue reigning forever,” he said.
According to him, Rema should currently be the biggest pop star in the country. He questioned why veterans like Wizkid, 2Face, Olamide, and Burna Boy still dominate pop discussions when younger talents are driving the sound.
“They should shift aside. Right now, Rema should be the biggest pop star in the country without any doubt. All this talk about Wizkid, 2Face, Olamide, Burna Boy. Why? In the Pop scene?? Wetin dem dey sing? You can plug the radio but nobody likes your stuff anymore. Move aside, evolve,” Brymo stated.
