Nigerian singer, actor, and pastor Banky W has revealed that he is the one who cooks at home, while his wife, actress Adesua Etomi-Wellington, rarely handles kitchen duties.
He made this known during an appearance on the Teju Babyface Show, where he reacted to public discussions sparked by a viral video showing him preparing breakfast.
Banky W explained that his decision to take charge of cooking is not based on obligation but on personal preference and appreciation for his wife.
According to him, he enjoys cooking, while his wife is not particularly inclined toward it even though she can cook well.
“There are some men who believe their wives must cook for them.
My wife can cook very well, but it’s just not really her thing,” he said.
He further explained that the arrangement works because it aligns with their personalities and lifestyle.

For him, cooking is something he genuinely enjoys, and he sees it as an act of love rather than a burden.
However, he also revealed a deeper reason behind his willingness to take on the role: his admiration for what his wife has endured in their journey together, especially during their struggles with infertility and IVF treatments.
Banky W said watching his wife go through multiple IVF cycles, injections, and emotional challenges made him more committed to supporting her in every practical way possible.
“In our journey to having children, I’ve seen her endure things that would break people. So cooking is the least I can do,” he said.
He added that his choice is also rooted in gratitude and partnership, noting that acts of service at home feel natural when love and respect are strong.
“It’s easy to give those acts of service when you have a wife like this,” he said.
Banky W concluded that every marriage is different, and couples should focus on what works for them rather than conforming to societal expectations.
