Hundreds of families have fled Unguwar Lalle community in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State following renewed attacks by suspected bandits, forcing residents to abandon their homes and seek safety in other locations.
The displaced residents, including women, children and elderly people, reportedly left with only a few belongings and their livestock as fears of further attacks continued to grow.
Videos circulating online showed large groups of villagers trekking on foot while others travelled on motorcycles carrying family members and household items. Some were also seen leading goats, cows and donkeys through difficult terrain toward a river, where canoes ferried them to safer areas.

Several residents claimed the worsening insecurity had made life unbearable, accusing authorities of failing to provide adequate protection despite repeated attacks on their communities. They said many families had been forced to leave their ancestral homes after living under constant fear of violence.
The affected villagers appealed to the Federal Government, the Sokoto State Government and security agencies to urgently strengthen security in Sabon Birni and surrounding communities to enable displaced residents to return home safely.
The latest displacement underscores the continuing security challenges facing parts of Sokoto State, where recurring bandit attacks have forced thousands of people to flee their homes, disrupting livelihoods and leaving many communities in urgent need of humanitarian assistance.
