
Security operatives have intensified the fight against drug-related crimes in Katsina State, leading to the arrest of six suspected drug peddlers during a coordinated raid operation.
The operation was carried out by troops of the Nigerian Army in collaboration with officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
It took place on May 9, 2026, at about 5:30 p.m., in Kauyan Dawo community, located in Malumfashi Local Government Area.
According to security sources, the raid was executed by troops of the 17 Brigade operating from the Forward Operating Base in Malumfashi, following credible intelligence on ongoing drug trafficking activities within the community.
During the operation, six individuals were apprehended for their alleged involvement in drug peddling.

Security operatives also recovered several illicit substances, including 82.5 grams of cannabis sativa, 15.7 grams of Exol-5, and 1.8 grams of D5.
Authorities confirmed that the suspects, along with the seized drugs, have been handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The joint operation is part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to clamp down on drug abuse and associated criminal activities across communities in Katsina State.
Officials have reiterated their commitment to sustaining such operations in order to promote safety and curb the spread of illicit drugs in the region.
