The Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, has arrested 21 foreign nationals allegedly linked to criminal activities across the state.
The suspects, mostly nationals of neighbouring West African countries, were among 53 individuals paraded by the security agency for alleged offences including kidnapping, murder, cattle rustling and diesel theft.
According to the Amotekun Commander, Adetunji Adeleye, the foreign nationals were allegedly operating under the guise of phone sellers and repairers while residing in accommodations considered inconsistent with their reported economic activities.
Adeleye said investigations revealed that some of the suspects allegedly worked with local collaborators, including landlords who reportedly rented properties to them without carrying out proper documentation or verification.
The commander disclosed that the 21 foreign nationals had been profiled and would be handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Meanwhile, four other suspects were arrested in Akure North Local Government Area over an alleged fake kidnapping incident.
Adeleye explained that the incident initially triggered concerns that a person had been kidnapped. However, further investigation reportedly revealed that one of those who reported the incident was allegedly part of the scheme.
Security operatives were subsequently led to the location where the supposed victim was hiding, leading authorities to conclude that the incident was allegedly staged to create panic and extort money.
The Amotekun commander described the development as disturbing and reiterated the need for stronger cooperation between residents, landlords and security agencies in identifying suspicious activities.
