
The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two armed robbery suspects in Yola-North Local Government Area following separate operations by operatives of the Doubeli Divisional Police Headquarters.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the command’s spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the first suspect, Idris Auwal, 22, was arrested on June 3, 2026. Preliminary investigation revealed that Auwal, a resident of Doubeli Culvert, conspired with three other accomplices who are still at large to break into a shop at Nassarawo Borehole belonging to Abdullahi Sunusi.
The suspects allegedly carted away a bag containing cash, important documents, and assorted shop provisions. Auwal was apprehended through diligent investigation while efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing accomplices.

In a related incident on June 5, 2026, operatives of the same division arrested another suspected member of a Shilla gang who specializes in attacking and robbing residents of their valuables.
The suspect was said to have approached one Abubakar Abdullahi along Doubeli Bypass with a cutlass and robbed him of an Itel mobile phone and N19,000 cash. The victim sustained head injuries during the attack. Police operatives responded swiftly, arrested the suspect at the scene, and ensured the victim received immediate medical attention.
Items recovered from the suspects include a cutlass, a knife, and the stolen handset. Nguroje said both suspects are under investigation while efforts are being intensified to apprehend other fleeing members of the criminal gang and bring them to justice.
The command assured residents of its commitment to combating Shilla gangsterism and all forms of criminality in the state. Residents were encouraged to continue supporting the police with timely and useful information to enhance public safety and security.
