Ademola Adeleke has officially announced the Accord Party as his new political platform ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
The declaration was made on Tuesday at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Osogbo, with national and state leaders of the party in attendance.
Adeleke, who is the governor of Osun State, revealed that he formally joined Accord Party on November 6, 2025, after weeks of consultations with stakeholders and opinion leaders across the state.
A statement from his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, noted that many stakeholders were already aware of the reasons behind the realignment.
He added that the move was motivated by the party’s ideology, which aligns with his administration’s commitment to welfarism and the wellbeing of citizens.
He explained that the decision to join the Accord Party was driven by its strong commitment to welfarism, which matches his administration’s focus on improving the lives of citizens and workers.
Hosting party leaders at the Government House, the governor stressed the importance of unity as the state moves closer to the 2026 governorship election.
According to him, the team remains united in purpose and determined to work for the progress of Osun State and Nigeria as a whole.
He called on party members to stay united and work together toward electoral victory, emphasizing the importance of an inclusive leadership style that gives room for every group within the party.
Reflecting on his time in the Accord Party so far, Adeleke said he had found motivation in the party’s guiding principles.
According to him, genuine leadership must always put citizens first. “People’s welfare must remain at the core of public service. The true purpose of government is to ensure the well-being of its people,” he said.
The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving the lives of Osun residents through policies and programmes focused on citizen welfare.
He described the Accord Party as the new political platform for the state and urged people across all three senatorial zones—Osun West, Osun East, and Osun Central—to unite behind it.
“From Igbomina to Ijeshaland, Ifeland, Osogbo, Iwoland, Modakeke, Gbongan, Igbajo, Ikire, Ikirun, Ede and beyond, this is our party—our new vehicle for victory in August next year,” he said.
Adeleke ended his address by officially confirming his political shift.
“In line with the wishes of our stakeholders and out of respect for the desires of Osun people, I hereby declare for the Accord Party,” he announced.
