Nasir El-Rufai, the former Kaduna State governor, has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), completing his registration and receiving his membership card at the party’s Ungwar Sarki Ward office in Kaduna State.
El-Rufai, one of the architects of the All Progressives Congress (APC), left the ruling party earlier this year after declaring that it had veered away from the ideals on which it was founded.
He noted that despite consistently raising concerns about the party’s direction, his observations were dismissed, leaving him convinced that the APC no longer reflected its original vision.
After spending only a short period in the Social Democratic Party (SDP), El-Rufai tendered his resignation on November 26, 2025.
In the letter, he stated that his priority is to help build a unified democratic platform capable of offering Nigerians a credible and truly competitive political alternative.
His entry into ADC signals a strategic new phase in his political journey, positioning the party for greater influence in Kaduna State and potentially reshaping alliances as Nigeria prepares for future elections.
