Human rights activist and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential aspirant, Omoyele Sowore, has alleged that a phone stolen from a member of his team during an attack in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has been traced to the Governor’s Lodge.
Sowore made the allegation in a social media post on Sunday, demanding that the police and Department of State Services (DSS) release CCTV footage from Tawakalitu Restaurant, where the incident reportedly occurred on Friday.
He said the phone was among several valuables stolen during the attack, which happened shortly after he attended an interview at MIDAS FM 90.5 in Ado-Ekiti.
The activist accused individuals linked to the Ekiti State Government House and security operatives of involvement in the assault, describing it as an assassination attempt.
He also questioned the police investigation, accusing the Ekiti State Police Command of shielding those allegedly responsible for organising the attack.
The police had earlier announced the arrest of 11 suspects at their hideouts in the Atikankan area of Ado-Ekiti around 10pm on Friday, October 30.
Items reportedly recovered from the suspects included two walkie-talkies, suspected Indian hemp and Colorado, seven ATM cards, 13 mobile phones, eight international passports and two suspected criminal charms.

Reacting to the arrests, Sowore said the police announcement confirmed that the incident was more than an ordinary altercation, insisting that those who allegedly planned and financed the attack must also be arrested.
He specifically demanded the arrest of Adenijo Olusola, popularly known as Solar, whom he accused of coordinating the attack alongside the governor’s Chief Security Officer, CSP Ayodele Akinlua.
Sowore also mentioned Omotuyi Temitope, popularly known as Tope Jinadu Small, as another person allegedly involved in the incident.
However, the allegations against the named individuals have not been established by a court.
The activist further alleged that DSS operatives had trailed and harassed him and members of his team before the attack.
Meanwhile, the police had initially described the incident as an altercation involving Sowore and some individuals at the restaurant, adding that he sustained injuries and was taken to hospital.
Sowore rejected the police account, insisting that he and his team were victims of a coordinated assault.
