
The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old ex-convict, identified as Chidera Eleh, popularly known as “Timaya,” over his alleged involvement in a series of robberies targeting Point-of-Sale (POS) operators and other unsuspecting victims in Awka, the state capital.
The arrest was announced on Friday by the police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, who said the operation was part of ongoing intelligence-led efforts to tackle motorcycle-assisted robberies and other criminal activities across the state.
According to the police, operatives recovered a motorcycle, an axe, a cutlass and other items suspected to be linked to the alleged crimes during the operation.

The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue to establish the extent of his alleged involvement and identify other persons who may have participated in the robberies.
The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Nnanna Ama, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property and ensuring that offenders are brought to justice in accordance with the law.
The police also urged POS operators, commercial motorcycle riders and other business owners to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or criminal activities to the nearest police station.
