
A 20-year-old man, Lawisi Safiyanu, has been arrested by the Jigawa State Police Command for allegedly stabbing a 25-year-old customer, Muhammad Abba, to death following a dispute over a ₦500 balance.
The incident reportedly occurred around 12:30 a.m. on October 1, 2026, in Chamo village, Dutse Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
According to the police, Abba had purchased a mobile phone from Safiyanu for ₦1,500 and paid ₦1,000, leaving a balance of ₦500. A disagreement reportedly broke out when the outstanding balance could not be settled immediately.
During the argument, Safiyanu allegedly used a knife to stab Abba.

The victim was rushed to Rashid Shekoni Teaching Hospital, Dutse, for treatment but reportedly died while receiving medical attention.
Police said the suspect was arrested and the alleged weapon recovered as an exhibit. He has since been charged to court.
The Jigawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Tijjani Murtala, urged residents to avoid taking the law into their own hands and encouraged the public to report disputes, threats and suspicious activities to security agencies.
