Four people sustained critical injuries after a fully loaded 40-foot container truck was involved in a multiple-vehicle crash at First Gate, inward Mile 2, Lagos.
The crash reportedly involved another container truck, a T4 commercial bus and nine commercial motorcyclists. Preliminary findings by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) indicated that the Mack truck suffered an apparent brake failure, causing the driver to lose control and crash into other road users.
The injured victims, three men and a woman, reportedly sustained multiple fractures and were rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.

LASTMA operatives responded to the scene, rescued the victims, controlled traffic and cleared the damaged vehicles. The truck driver and other drivers involved were handed over to the police for further investigation and possible prosecution.
LASTMA has urged motorists, particularly operators of articulated vehicles, to ensure their vehicles are properly maintained and roadworthy before embarking on journeys.
