The management of Peka Park and Garden in Wuse Zone 3, Abuja, has raised concerns over the demolition of its facility, alleging that the action was carried out despite a subsisting court order protecting the property.
The facility, owned by Obike Industries Nigeria Limited, was reportedly demolished by officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration in September 2026.
Director of the company, Onyeka Ikenta, said the demolition destroyed buildings, equipment and other assets valued at more than N1 billion, while over 100 workers were displaced.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Ikenta alleged that officials returned to the property on September 24 with bulldozers and caterpillars to demolish the perimeter fence, despite being reminded of the court order.
He said the company had obtained approvals to develop the property after it was allocated to the firm in 2007 and later approached the court in 2016 following disputes over alleged encroachment.

According to him, the High Court of the FCT subsequently issued an interlocutory injunction restraining relevant authorities from taking actions that could adversely affect the company’s interest in the property.
Ikenta further alleged that the company commenced contempt proceedings after the demolition began, but the demolition continued on September 28 with security personnel deployed to the premises.
He appealed to President Bola Tinubu, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, the National Assembly and the judiciary to intervene, insisting that the company had chosen legal channels rather than confrontation.
He also expressed concern over the alleged conversion of green and recreational spaces in Abuja into residential developments, stressing the importance of such areas for recreation, tourism and flood management.
The company said it is still assessing the full extent of the damage and called for the facility to be restored pending the resolution of the legal dispute.
