A woman who was reportedly kidnapped along the Kassa–Barkin Ladi highway in Plateau State has escaped from her abductors and is currently receiving treatment for minor injuries.
The woman was abducted on Tuesday, September 15, after suspected armed robbers reportedly blocked the highway with stones, forcing motorists travelling along the route to stop.
According to security sources, the woman escaped from her abductors in the early hours of Wednesday, September 16, before finding her way to safety.
She was subsequently taken to a hospital in Heipang, where she is being treated for injuries believed to have been sustained during the incident.
The incident prompted troops of Sector 4, Operation Enduring Peace, stationed at the Alpha Guard location, to respond and clear the highway.

During the operation, the troops reportedly discovered an ash-coloured Sharon vehicle without a registration number at the scene.
A security team has also been deployed to verify the circumstances surrounding the woman’s escape, determine where she escaped from and gather additional evidence.
Security agencies are expected to intensify efforts to identify and apprehend the suspected kidnappers operating along the Kassa–Barkin Ladi route.
