
The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arrested 70 suspects following a viral video alleging a robbery around Unity Fountain in the Maitama area of Abuja.
The arrest followed an order by the FCT Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, for an immediate raid of identified criminal flashpoints around Unity Fountain and its surroundings.
According to the police, operatives of the Maitama Division conducted coordinated raids across the area and arrested 70 suspects in connection with the alleged incident.
After preliminary screening and due process, 30 of the suspects were released, while 40 others were kept in custody for further investigation.

During the investigation, the victim reportedly identified two of the suspects as individuals he recognised from the incident.
The two identified suspects and others still in custody remain under investigation as the police continue efforts to identify and arrest anyone else who may have been involved.
The police urged residents of the FCT to remain security-conscious and report suspicious persons, movements or activities to the nearest police station.
