Police have arrested a suspected producer of a herbal liquid believed to be linked to the deaths of several people in Ondo State.
The suspect, identified as Oloruntoba Babatunde, also known as “Meko,” was arrested over the production of the herbal substance reportedly consumed by residents of Araromi-Obu and Odigbo communities in Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.
The police also arrested 14 other persons for allegedly violating the local council’s ban on the sale of herbal products.

The arrests followed reports that the consumption of the substance had resulted in multiple deaths in the affected communities.
The police said investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths and establish the contents and source of the substance.
The bodies of the deceased are also undergoing medical and forensic examinations as authorities work to establish the exact cause of the deaths.
