Four suspected bandits have been killed and seven kidnapped victims rescued during separate security operations across Nigeria.
The Nigeria Police Force said the operations, carried out on September 11 and 12, also led to the arrest of 13 suspects and the recovery of a locally made AK-47 rifle, 35 rustled cattle, ₦1.5 million in ransom and a stolen vehicle valued at ₦8.5 million.
In Kwara State, four suspected bandits were reportedly neutralised after security operatives, including police, military personnel, forest guards and vigilantes, engaged them in a gun battle.

In Ondo State, security operatives also engaged suspected kidnappers in a gun duel, forcing them to flee into the forest with gunshot wounds. Two kidnapped victims were rescued unharmed, while ₦1.5 million ransom was recovered.
Meanwhile, in Katsina State, police operatives engaged suspected bandits in a gun battle, forcing them to abandon five kidnapped victims and flee into the bush.
The 13 suspects arrested across Taraba, Bauchi, Kogi, Nasarawa, Katsina, Cross River and Gombe States are being investigated for alleged offences including murder, culpable homicide, rape, armed robbery, car theft and attempted firearm sale.
The police said investigations into the various cases are ongoing.
