
A kidnapped victim has been rescued in Edo State after security operatives engaged suspected kidnappers in a gun battle in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area.
The operation, which involved troops of the 322 Army Regiment, personnel of the Nigeria Police Force and local vigilantes, reportedly took place on Monday, September 7, 2026.
According to a report shared by security analyst Zagazola Makama on Wednesday, the security team encountered the suspected kidnappers around 9:30 a.m. near Juju Junction, behind Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma.
The confrontation reportedly forced the kidnappers to abandon their victim and flee the area as the security operatives intensified their response.

The rescued victim was subsequently handed over to the Nigeria Police for further action.
Security forces are said to have continued efforts to track down the fleeing suspects and prevent further attacks, kidnappings and other criminal activities within the area.
The successful rescue highlights the ongoing collaboration between the military, police and community-based security groups in tackling kidnapping and other security challenges in parts of Edo State.
