
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, identified as Jabir Yusuf, over the alleged shooting and killing of another 25-year-old man, Hassan Mohamed, in Toro Local Government Area of the state.
The incident reportedly occurred on Monday at about 11:30 a.m. in Rinjin Gura village, Zalau Ward, Toro LGA.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, the command received a report from a resident alleging that Yusuf had fired a Dane gun at Mohamed, hitting him in the neck.
Following the report, operatives from the Gumau Divisional Police Headquarters were deployed to the scene. The victim was subsequently rushed to Toro General Hospital for medical attention.
However, Mohamed was pronounced dead by the doctor on duty shortly after arriving at the hospital.
Police authorities said the deceased’s remains were released to his family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.

The suspect was arrested, while the Dane gun allegedly used in the incident was recovered and taken into police custody as an exhibit.
The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Bauchi, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, expressed condolences to the deceased’s family and directed investigators to thoroughly establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The command also warned residents against the illegal possession and reckless use of firearms, stressing that anyone found violating the law would face legal consequences.
