The Niger State Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old man, identified as Aminu Yusuf, for allegedly impersonating a medical doctor and administering medications and injections to members of the public without any medical qualification.
The suspect, who is from Unguwan-Tukura in Kontagora, was arrested on August 24, 2026, following credible information received by the police.
According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, Yusuf allegedly presented himself to residents as a medical doctor despite having no medical background or relevant documents.
During preliminary investigations, the suspect reportedly confessed to administering medications to different people and injecting a woman and other women after collecting ₦30,000 from each of them.
The police spokesperson said the suspect’s activities came to light after the command received information about his alleged practice, leading operatives to move in and arrest him.
The command said Yusuf remains under investigation as detectives work to establish the full extent of his activities and identify other people who may have received treatment from him.

The police warned members of the public against patronising unqualified individuals who pose as medical professionals, stressing the potential dangers of receiving medical treatment from people without the required training and certification.
The suspect is expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
