
A devastating fire outbreak has claimed the lives of a woman and her three children at Rugar Audu Badali settlement in Karasuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The incident occurred at about 5pm on Friday, destroying the family’s home and belongings.
The victims were identified as Bilkisu, wife of Mallam Bukar, and her three children, Zainab, Hafsat and Salamatu.
The four victims were later buried according to Islamic rites, while surviving members of the family were left homeless following the destruction of their residence.
The Yobe State Emergency Management Agency disclosed this in a statement on Saturday after its officials visited the affected community to assess the extent of the disaster.
The assessment was conducted in collaboration with representatives of the Karasuwa Local Government Authority and community stakeholders.
During the visit, the agency expressed condolences to Mallam Bukar, his surviving relatives and residents of the local government over the tragic loss.

SEMA said its assessment showed an urgent need for emergency relief materials, temporary shelter and psychosocial support for the displaced survivors.
The agency added that it would coordinate humanitarian interventions and mobilise resources to ease the suffering of those affected by the disaster.
SEMA also appealed for collective efforts to prevent similar fire incidents in communities across the state.
The agency prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased and asked Allah to grant the bereaved family the strength to bear the loss.
