The family of the late Ahmed Omolola has broken its silence following allegations of harassment made by his widow, Tosin Omolola, barely days after his burial.
The situation, which has drawn widespread public attention, escalated after social activist Harrison Gwamnishu amplified the widow’s claims on social media, prompting intervention by authorities.
Acting on the development, the Lagos State Police Command arrested the deceased’s father, David Omolola, on Thursday, July 30, 2026. He was subsequently arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court the following day on a two-count charge bordering on alleged assault and threat to life against his daughter-in-law.
However, in a video released over the weekend, the deceased’s mother refuted the allegations, offering a different account of events.
She clarified that a viral video showing her 62-year-old husband locking a gate was misrepresented, stating that the footage was recorded in 2024 at their personal residence not at the home shared by Ahmed and his wife.

She further alleged that during Ahmed’s illness, she and her husband took full responsibility for his care, along with that of their grandchildren, claiming that Tosin was not adequately attending to him at the time.
According to her, tensions escalated when Tosin reportedly came to their residence and caused a disturbance, prompting her husband to lock the gate in an attempt to prevent further chaos. She insisted that the viral footage originated from that incident.
The deceased’s mother also accused the widow of abandoning Ahmed during his critical condition, maintaining that the family remained by his side until his passing.
Meanwhile, although the court granted David Omolola bail, he remains in police custody after failing to meet the stipulated conditions. Family members, however, expressed optimism that he will regain his freedom once the bail requirements are fulfilled, possibly within the coming week.
The case continues to attract public interest as investigations and legal proceedings unfold.
