
A tragic incident has shaken residents of Abule Ijesha in Yaba, Lagos State, after suspected cultists brutally killed a security guard and reportedly injured three others during a violent attack.
The victim, identified simply as Godwin, was attacked on Saturday evening near his duty post. According to eyewitness accounts, the assailants arrived in a vehicle, accosted him, and shot him at close range before further assaulting him.
Sources revealed that the attackers fired gunshots sporadically into the air as they fled the scene, causing widespread panic within the community.
A security source confirmed that authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, with efforts underway to identify and apprehend those responsible.

Meanwhile, reports from an anti-cultism monitoring group suggest that three additional individuals sustained gunshot injuries during the sttack.
However, police authorities have yet to officially confirm these claims.
Attempts to reach the Lagos State Police Command for comments were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
Cult-related violence continues to pose a serious security concern in parts of Lagos, particularly in Yaba and its surrounding areas, despite ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to curb the menace.
