The Ondo State Police Command has arrested three suspected drug dealers during a patrol operation in Akure, recovering a quantity of suspected illicit substances believed to be linked to drug trafficking activities.
The suspects, identified as Fisayo Adedamola, Adeola Oluwaseun and Adeogun Olumide, were apprehended by operatives of the command’s Anti-Cultism Squad while carrying out a routine confidence-building patrol within the state capital.

According to the police, officers searched the suspects and recovered substances suspected to include cannabis, tramadol capsules, codeine syrup and Tutolin syrup. The recovered items have been taken into custody as exhibits, while the suspects remain in police detention.
Police authorities said investigations are underway to determine the origin of the substances, identify any accomplices and uncover possible links to a wider drug distribution network operating within or outside the state.
The command stated that the suspects would be charged in court after the completion of the investigation.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State reiterated the command’s commitment to combating drug trafficking and substance abuse, describing illicit drugs as a major factor contributing to crimes such as cultism, armed robbery and other violent offences.
He urged residents to support security agencies by providing credible and timely information that could assist in identifying individuals involved in drug trafficking and related criminal activities.
The police assured the public that intelligence-led operations and proactive policing would continue across the state to curb crime and ensure the safety of residents, warning criminal elements to abandon unlawful activities or face prosecution.
