
Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 17 Brigade have arrested a suspected bandit during a routine security operation in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The suspect, identified as Lawal Sani, was apprehended at about 3:14 p.m. on July 15 when soldiers, returning from an earlier operation in Bakori, made a stop at Yantumaki.
According to security sources, a search conducted on the suspect led to the discovery of a video on his mobile phone allegedly showing him in possession of an AK-47 rifle.

Upon this discovery, the suspect reportedly attempted to escape but was swiftly subdued and taken into custody by the troops.
Items recovered from him include a motorcycle, two mobile phones (Infinix and Tecno), a coloured photocopy of a National Identity Card, a Moniepoint ATM card, an MTN SIM card, and a cash sum of ₦5,020.
The suspect is currently in military custody as investigations continue. Authorities say he will be prosecuted upon the conclusion of the investigation.
