Former Sweden international Zlatan Ibrahimovic has shared his thoughts on what Zinedine Zidane must do when he takes charge of the France national team after the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking ahead of France’s third-place playoff against England, Ibrahimovic said Zidane should build on the strong foundation laid by current head coach Didier Deschamps while introducing his own leadership style.
Zidane is widely expected to succeed Deschamps once France conclude their World Cup campaign, bringing an end to the latter’s long spell in charge of Les Bleus.
Ibrahimovic praised Zidane’s achievements during his time at Real Madrid, where he guided the Spanish giants to three consecutive UEFA Champions League titles, describing him as the ideal figure to lead the French national team.
According to the former striker, France already possess one of the most talented squads in international football, meaning Zidane’s primary responsibility will be managing the players effectively rather than making sweeping tactical changes.
He stressed that the former Real Madrid boss should stamp his authority on the team by implementing his own management approach while preserving the winning culture established under Deschamps.
