
With the 2026 FIFA World Cup final approaching, FIFA has highlighted the goalkeepers who have recorded the most clean sheets in the tournament’s history.
Former France international Fabien Barthez and England legend Peter Shilton jointly hold the record, having each kept 10 clean sheets in 17 World Cup appearances for their respective countries.

Spain’s Unai Simón is among the active goalkeepers high on the list, with eight clean sheets from just 11 World Cup matches. He is tied with several other legendary shot-stoppers, including Netherlands’ Jan Jongbloed, Portugal’s Leão, Germany’s Sepp Maier, Brazil’s Taffarel, Belgium’s Thibaut Courtois and France’s Hugo Lloris, all of whom have recorded eight clean sheets during their World Cup careers.
Brazil’s Alisson Becker, legendary Brazilian goalkeeper Gilmar, Spain’s Iker Casillas, Uruguay’s Fernando Muslera and Germany’s Manuel Neuer complete the top rankings with seven clean sheets each.
