
JA man was found beheaded on Tuesday at the permanent site of the University of Jos (UNIJOS) in Plateau State, with his attackers reportedly fleeing the scene with his severed head.
The discovery triggered panic around the campus and prompted security agencies to launch an investigation into the killing.
The university’s Chief Security Officer, Mr. Agama Tangni, confirmed the incident, saying the deceased was neither a student nor a member of staff of the institution.
According to him, the victim was a local farmer who was well known in the area and regularly visited the location in the early hours of the day to tend to his farm.

Tangni said preliminary findings indicate that the victim may have been deliberately targeted by the assailants, who killed him before escaping with his head.
He added that the deceased’s relatives had been notified, while the body was deposited at the Bingham University Teaching Hospital mortuary.
The university management has also been informed of the incident and is expected to issue a formal statement to the university community.
As of the time of filing this report, the Plateau State Police Command had yet to release an official statement on the killing, while efforts to reach the command’s spokesperson, DSP Alabo Alfred, were unsuccessful.
Security has since been reinforced around the university’s permanent site as investigations continue into the incident.
