“We are shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of referee Rob Dieperink,” the association said, extending its condolences to his family, friends, and everyone close to him.
Dieperink had been removed from the list of officials for the 2026 World Cup after he was arrested in the United Kingdom earlier this year on suspicion of sexually assaulting a teenage boy.
However, following an investigation by authorities, no charges were filed against the Dutch official, and he was not prosecuted.
The KNVB did not disclose the cause of Dieperink’s death, but paid tribute to his contribution to football and wished his loved ones strength during the difficult period.
