
An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion has claimed the lives of a Nigerian Army captain and two other soldiers in Niger State.
The tragic incident occurred at Maciyan-Kyada Village in Babanna Ward, Borgu Local Government Area, during a routine military patrol.
According to a security source, the troops were departing Babanna town at about 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday when one of their vehicles reportedly ran over an IED suspected to have been planted by terrorists.
“The explosion led to the death of three soldiers, including a captain, while two others sustained varying degrees of injuries,” the source disclosed.
The injured personnel are said to be receiving medical attention, though details about their condition remain unclear.

A resident of the community, who spoke on condition of anonymity, also confirmed the explosion, expressing concern over the rising security threats in the area.
