A man has been arrested by the Rivers State Police Command for allegedly killing his father, a retired marine captain, during a dispute over ownership of a car in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.
The tragic incident occurred at Oro Ekpo Estate in the Ada George area, where the victim, identified as Captain David Nwoke (retd.), was reportedly attacked inside his residence.
According to information gathered, the retired officer had recently informed his children of plans to relocate to his hometown and had begun sharing his assets among them. However, one of his sons allegedly demanded ownership of one of the vehicles, a request the father reportedly declined.

After the incident, the suspect allegedly took the vehicle’s key and locked himself inside a room before neighbours alerted the police. Officers from the Rumupakani Police Division responded to the distress call, arrested the suspect, and took him into custody.
Confirming the development, the Rivers State Police Command said the suspect remains in custody while detectives continue investigations.
The command assured the public that the case is being thoroughly investigated and that appropriate legal action will follow based on the outcome of the inquiry.
