Troops of the 17 Brigade under Sector 2 of Operation Fansan Yamma have successfully foiled a planned terrorist attack on commuters along the Kakumi–Guga Road in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State, killing eight suspected terrorists.
The operation, carried out in collaboration with hybrid security forces, followed credible intelligence indicating that armed fighters loyal to notorious terrorist leader Idi Abasu Aiki were mobilising to ambush motorists and travellers along the route.
According to security sources, the suspects were sighted advancing towards the target area on five motorcycles. Acting swiftly on the intelligence, troops strategically positioned themselves and laid an ambush along the road.

Security operatives have since intensified patrol and surveillance operations in the area to forestall any possible retaliatory attacks on nearby communities and road users.
The successful operation is part of ongoing efforts under Operation Fansan Yamma to curtail the activities of terrorist groups and enhance security across Katsina State and the wider North-West region.
