Suspected terrorists attacked Logomani community in Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State late on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, launching an assault on a military base before setting public facilities on fire.
According to military authorities, the attackers targeted the Forward Operating Base in Logomani, where troops engaged them in a fierce gun battle. Although the terrorists briefly breached part of the base’s defensive perimeter, soldiers regrouped and forced them to retreat after a counter-offensive.
The military confirmed that one soldier was killed, while two gun trucks and other combat equipment were damaged during the clash.
After the attack on the military base, the gunmen reportedly entered the community, firing sporadically and causing residents to flee. They then burned down a police outpost, a primary healthcare centre, and two classrooms in a primary school.

A joint team of military personnel, police officers, and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force later pursued the fleeing terrorists, while reinforcements were deployed to secure the area.
On Wednesday, July 8, 2026, the Chairman of Ngala Local Government Council, Mala Tijjani Ngala, visited the affected community to assess the damage. He inspected the destroyed police post, healthcare centre, and school, promising to forward the findings to the Borno State Government for urgent intervention.
He also urged residents to remain calm and continue cooperating with security agencies.
