
The Nasarawa State Police Command has initiated an intensive manhunt for suspected gunmen who abducted three students of the Federal University of Lafia.
According to the police, one of the victims has been successfully rescued during a coordinated search-and-rescue operation, while efforts are ongoing to secure the release of the remaining two students still in captivity.
The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday night at about 9:20 p.m. The university’s Chief Security Officer alerted the police after the students were kidnapped from Living Seed Lodge, a residence located in a bushy area on the outskirts of the student community.
Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, stated that the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, immediately ordered the deployment of tactical teams, patrol operatives, and other security personnel to the scene.
“The operatives swiftly mobilised and launched a coordinated search-and-rescue operation within the surrounding forest, leading to the successful rescue of one of the abducted students,” Nansel said.

He added that security agencies have intensified efforts, deploying both operational and intelligence resources to ensure the safe return of the remaining victims and the arrest of those responsible for the crime.
The police command assured the public that no effort would be spared in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
Residents have been urged to remain calm but vigilant, and to report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station to aid ongoing operations.
