
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old man over allegations of inappropriate conduct involving a minor in the Bauchi metropolis.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, the case was reported by the mother of the eight-year-old child on July 5, 2026, at the ‘E’ Division in Yelwa.
The complainant alleged that the suspect, identified as Muhammad Makama, lured the child into his residence, where the incident reportedly occurred.
Police operatives responded promptly after receiving the report. The child was taken to a medical facility for examination and care, while the suspect was also treated for injuries reportedly sustained during an incident involving members of the community.

The case has since been transferred to the Gender Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, condemned the alleged act and reassured the public of the command’s commitment to ensuring justice is served.
Authorities also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, while emphasizing the importance of protecting children and upholding community safety.
