Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested more than 150 suspected hoodlums during a coordinated raid on a notorious criminal hideout located at a dumpsite in the Boolar area near Okofilling Bus Stop, Igando.
The early morning operation, carried out on Sunday by a joint team of officers from multiple police formations, followed credible intelligence reports from concerned residents about escalating criminal activities in the area.
The suspects were allegedly using the dumpsite as a base to launch robbery attacks on commuters and members of the community.
According to police sources, the raid led to the arrest of 153 individuals and the recovery of several incriminating items, including firearms, illicit drugs, mobile phones, generating sets, motorcycles, and military camouflage. Authorities also dismantled two shrines reportedly used by the suspects.

The operation was reportedly triggered after a robbery incident involving a passerby, who later returned to the scene with police officers. The situation escalated when the suspects resisted arrest and attacked the officers, leaving one policeman injured.
Residents have long expressed concerns over the activities of the group, describing the dumpsite as a hub for criminal operations that posed a serious threat to safety in the area.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer confirmed the arrests, adding that all suspects have been transferred to the Task Force Office in Oshodi for further investigation and possible prosecution. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend others who escaped during the raid.
This operation marks a significant step in the police command’s ongoing efforts to restore safety and dismantle criminal networks across Lagos communities.
