Residents of Bodinga Local Government Area in Sokoto State on Friday staged a protest, blocking the busy Bodinga–Sokoto highway to demand urgent government intervention following a fresh wave of bandit attacks on their communities.
The demonstration comes amid reports of renewed violence that has allegedly resulted in multiple deaths, displacement of families, and several persons still unaccounted for.
According to local sources, the protesters expressed deep frustration over what they described as the government’s failure to provide adequate security, despite repeated attacks in the area.
Many residents lamented that the persistent insecurity has forced them to abandon their homes, leaving behind livelihoods and properties.
A conflict and security journalist covering Nigeria’s North-West region revealed that the affected communities include Danchadi, Dabagi, Karaje, and Taƙule, where armed bandits reportedly invaded, causing widespread panic and destruction.
