
Residents of Sai Community in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State have been thrown into mourning after a fresh attack by suspected armed herders left several people feared dead and many others injured.
The attack occurred on Tuesday when the assailants reportedly stormed the community in large numbers, opening fire on residents and setting several houses ablaze. The violence forced many families to flee into nearby bushes to escape the assault.

Security personnel, including troops, were deployed to the area after receiving distress calls. The operatives responded by working to repel the attackers, restore calm, and prevent the violence from spreading to neighbouring communities.
Those injured in the attack were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, while security agencies launched search operations to locate missing residents and assess the full extent of the casualties.
The incident also resulted in the destruction of several homes and valuable property, leaving many residents displaced.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with other security agencies, has intensified patrols in Sai and surrounding communities to strengthen security and reassure residents as efforts continue to prevent further attacks.
