New Real Madrid signing Marc Cucurella says he is ready to take on the defensive duties so Vinicius Junior can focus on scoring goals. The Spaniard made the comments after completing his €55 million move from Chelsea to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.
One of the biggest talking points around Cucurella’s arrival is how he will link up with Vinicius Jr on Real Madrid’s left flank. The full-back made it clear he has no issue doing the unglamorous work to keep the Brazilian fresh for attack.

Speaking to Marca, Cucurella said, “I think we’ll get along well. I don’t care if he doesn’t track back, I’ll do everything he doesn’t want to do. As long as he’s decisive and fresh enough to score goals, I’ll do the dirty work.”
He added that Vinicius has proven himself a key and influential player in Real Madrid’s recent Champions League campaigns. The partnership is expected to be central to Madrid’s plans for the 2026/27 season as they chase domestic and European silverware.
