The Anambra State Police Command has killed four suspected members of a secessionist armed gang and recovered firearms, explosives, stolen vehicles, and cash along the Ogboji–Ajalli Road in Orumba South Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga said in a statement on Wednesday that the operation was carried out on the evening of June 23, 2026, by the Police-led Joint Security Patrol Team, Aguata Sector.
The team acted on credible intelligence about heavily armed suspected members of a secessionist group moving in a white Toyota Sienna bus in the area.
During a visibility and confidence-building patrol, security operatives engaged the gang in an armed confrontation and neutralized four members.
Preliminary investigations indicate that other members fled into surrounding bushes with gunshot injuries, and a manhunt has been intensified to track them down and recover more weapons.
