
The Lagos State Police Command says it has made several arrests and recovered firearms in a renewed crackdown on armed robbery, cultism, and illegal possession of weapons across the state.
Commissioner of Police Fatai Tijani disclosed the breakthroughs on Tuesday at the command headquarters in Ikeja. He said coordinated operations led to multiple arrests and the seizure of sophisticated weapons.
Operatives from the Oke-Odo Division arrested a 20-year-old suspect linked to a robbery gang operating around the Ipaja axis. Police recovered a fabricated Beretta pistol and a motorcycle allegedly used in the attacks.
The suspect confessed to being part of a three-man robbery operation, and efforts are ongoing to track down his fleeing accomplices.
On June 22, three suspects were arrested for an armed robbery attack that left a victim with gunshot injuries. A locally-made pistol and four expended cartridges were recovered from them.
Following intelligence from Ayetoro-Ijanikin, officers arrested three more suspects and recovered two double-barrel guns and six locally fabricated single-barrel guns. All suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, for further investigation.

During a patrol along Ilupeju Bye-pass, two suspects were caught with a cut-to-size pistol, an English Browning pistol, and four live cartridges. Police also arrested two men posing as soldiers who were found with a pump-action gun.
Four suspected members of the Eiye Confraternity were apprehended, with a Beretta pistol loaded with live ammunition, a locally-made pistol, and a knife recovered.
Another suspect was arrested in Igando during a response to cult violence. He confessed to belonging to the Alora Confraternity and was found with a pump-action gun.
Tijani assured residents that all suspects would be prosecuted and promised intensified operations to rid Lagos of criminal elements and illegal firearms.
He said the command remains committed to sustaining pressure on criminal networks and protecting public safety
