The Niger State Police Command has confirmed the recovery of nine bodies along the Wawa-Lumma Road in Borgu Local Government Area of the state.
The victims were suspected to have been killed by bandits while travelling along the route.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident on Wednesday, stating that police and military tactical teams were deployed to the area after receiving information about the bodies on Tuesday.
According to him, the security personnel successfully evacuated the bodies while intensifying clearance operations to secure the area and prevent further attacks.
“Police and military tactical teams were mobilised to the scene; the bodies recovered, while clearance operation was intensified to secure the area,” Abiodun said.

The incident comes just days after security agencies rescued 308 people abducted in separate attacks in Kwara and Niger states.
Of the rescued victims, 163 were abducted from Woro Community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, while another 145 were kidnapped in Niger State.
The victims were rescued from the Kainji Lake National Park forest in New Bussa Local Government Area of Niger State during a coordinated operation involving the National Counter-Terrorism Centre, the Armed Forces, the Department of State Services and the Nigeria Police Force.
Security agencies have continued operations in the area amid concerns over bandit attacks and abductions along communities and major routes in the region.
