Students of Pan-Atlantic University (PAU), Lagos, were directed to remain indoors following reports of suspected armed intruders within the campus premises.
The emergency advisory, issued by the university’s Student Council late Tuesday night, urged all undergraduate students to stay inside their hostels while security agencies carry out a comprehensive operation to secure the environment.
According to the statement, concerns arose after sightings of “unauthorised individuals” believed to be bandit-like figures within the school vicinity.
In response, the university activated a coordinated security effort involving the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigerian Army, and Nigerian Navy.
The council reassured students that the situation is under control, emphasizing that the presence of heavily armed security personnel across campus is strictly for protection purposes.

Students were also informed that they might hear gunfire or related sounds during the operation. However, the council clarified that such noises would result from controlled security activities and not an active attack.
“Please remain calm and stay within your hostels until an official ‘all-clear’ is issued,” the advisory stated.
Members of the university community were further encouraged to stay vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activity to campus security.
As of the time of reporting, authorities have not confirmed any arrests or casualties, and the exact details surrounding the incident remain unclear.
The university management is expected to provide further updates as investigations continue.
