
The Kebbi State Police Command has rescued a kidnapped woman and arrested one suspect during a coordinated operation with vigilantes and the Civilian Joint Task Force in Birnin Kebbi.
Commissioner of Police Umar Hadejia disclosed the development on Wednesday while briefing journalists on recent security operations in the state. He said the victim, Asmau Isah, was abducted on June 10 during an attack on her residence in the Bayan Forestry area of Birnin Kebbi.
According to Hadejia, seven armed men stormed the house, stole N220,000 and mobile phones, and took the victim to an unknown location. A swift response by police operatives, supported by local vigilantes and Civilian JTF members, led to her rescue unharmed and the arrest of one suspect, Abubakar Siddi.

The commissioner said efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang involved in the abduction. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling kidnapping and violent crimes through intelligence-led operations and collaboration with community stakeholders.
Hadejia urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information to security agencies, assuring that all reports would be treated confidentially.
He added that the Kebbi Police Command remains focused on ensuring the safety of law-abiding citizens across the state.
