Former Flying Eagles head coach John Obuh has criticised the Tunisian Football Federation for sacking Carthage Eagles coach Sabri Lamouchi during the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Lamouchi was dismissed on Monday after Tunisia’s 5-1 defeat to Sweden in their opening match of the tournament.
The 57-year-old had managed the former African champions for just four games, recording one draw and three defeats. He has now been replaced by former Zambia and Côte d’Ivoire coach Hervé Renard.
Speaking to Footy Africa, Obuh said removing a coach mid-tournament was the wrong move.

“I’m not an advocate of making changes in the middle of a tournament, it does not make any sense,” the 66-year-old said. “But such a thing is already pre-planned.
If you see any country behave like their federation did, they had a doubt earlier on before they gave him the mantle to lead the team.”
Tunisia will face Japan in their next World Cup fixture on Sunday.
