Retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, a former Director of Defence Information, has reportedly been killed by bandits weeks after he was abducted in Katsina State.
The development was confirmed by the Katsina State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasir Mu’azu Danmusa, who disclosed that security authorities received intelligence indicating that the retired military officer was killed while in captivity.
According to Danmusa, efforts are still ongoing to recover the remains of the former army general, as security operatives continue search operations in the area.
Abubakar and his wife were kidnapped by armed bandits on May 30 while travelling through the Matazu axis of Katsina State. The incident sparked widespread concern, given his status as a retired senior military officer and former spokesperson for the Nigerian Armed Forces.
