
The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a middle-aged woman for allegedly battering her husband with a cutlass during a domestic dispute in Akure.
The suspect, Mary Olatunde, was apprehended after neighbors reported the incident to the Gender-Based Offences Unit of the Command. Police said she attacked her husband, Julius Olatunde, at their residence on Igbatoro Road, Ilado, inflicting serious bodily injuries during the altercation.

Police Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the arrest and said the victim sustained significant injuries from the attack. He added that investigation has been concluded and Mary Olatunde has been charged to court, where she is currently facing prosecution.
Jimoh stressed that the Command treats all forms of domestic violence as a serious threat to safety and dignity, and perpetrators will be held accountable regardless of gender or status. He urged the public to report cases of domestic abuse and gender-related offences promptly to the nearest police station or the Gender-Based Offences Unit for immediate intervention.
