
The Katsina State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its fight against crime, arresting 225 suspects linked to various criminal activities and rescuing 17 kidnapped victims in May 2026.
The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, disclosed this while presenting the operational scorecard for the month.
He noted that the achievements were a result of intensified intelligence-led operations, joint patrols, and strong inter-agency collaboration across the state.
According to Sadiq, the arrests cut across multiple offences, including kidnapping, banditry, cattle rustling, armed robbery, and drug trafficking.
Among those apprehended were seven suspected kidnappers, 10 armed robbery suspects, one suspected armed bandit, two informants, and 21 drug peddlers. Others include suspects linked to murder, rape, and various social offences.

“In total, 150 major cases were reported and addressed, with 109 already charged to court following the conclusion of investigations,” he stated.
He further revealed that all 17 rescued kidnap victims have been safely reunited with their families after undergoing medical examinations and debriefing.
The police also recovered a significant number of items, including stolen livestock, vehicles, motorcycles, electronic devices, and various illicit drugs such as Diazepam, Indian hemp, and Pregabalin.
All exhibits remain in police custody and will be presented as evidence in court.
Sadiq attributed the successes to sustained collaboration with other security agencies and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intensifying efforts against criminal elements in the state.
He also appreciated the Katsina State Government and the Inspector-General of Police for their continued support, emphasizing that the Command remains determined to restore lasting peace and security across the region.
Katsina State, one of the areas heavily affected by banditry in Nigeria’s North-West, has witnessed increased security operations in recent times aimed at protecting communities, farmers, and travelers.
