The Osun State Police Command has commenced a full-scale investigation into a series of shooting incidents across parts of the state that left several individuals injured.
In an official statement released on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, speaking on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Gotan, expressed deep concern over the attacks and confirmed that decisive action is already underway.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police has directed the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), alongside the Operations and Intelligence Departments, to carry out a thorough investigation aimed at identifying, apprehending, and prosecuting all those involved.
The Command assured residents that calm has been restored in the affected areas, with enhanced security presence and proactive measures implemented to prevent further violence.
Intelligence-driven operations are also ongoing to track down the perpetrators and any sponsors linked to the attacks.
Police authorities further disclosed that injured victims were swiftly evacuated to medical facilities, where they are currently receiving treatment and responding positively.
Residents have been urged to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding, while also cooperating with security agencies.

The police called on members of the public with credible information to report to the nearest station or use official emergency channels, assuring that all tips will be treated with strict confidentiality.
Reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, the Command warned against any acts of retaliation or activities capable of disrupting public peace.
The incidents come amid rising political tensions in the state, following a wave of violence reported in Osogbo, Ede, and Ile-Ife. The situation has sparked a blame game among political stakeholders.
Governor Ademola Adeleke had earlier condemned the attacks, alleging involvement of political thugs linked to opposition figures.
However, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council dismissed the claims, instead accusing supporters of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other groups of orchestrating the violence.
Similarly, the Accord Party, through its state leadership, alleged that armed thugs connected to the APC carried out shootings in parts of Osogbo and Owode-Ede, resulting in casualties.
As investigations continue, the police have reiterated their resolve to bring all culprits to justice and ensure lasting peace across Osun State.
