
The Kwara State Police Command has arrested four suspected robbers and recovered a stolen motorcycle following a violent attack on two commuters in Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the incident occurred on June 4, 2026, at about 8:00 p.m. along the Ali Weree Camp axis, where armed assailants attacked two individuals returning from a market.
The attackers, reportedly armed with sticks and cutlasses, inflicted injuries on the victims before forcefully dispossessing them of their motorcycle and fleeing the scene.
Upon receiving the report, police operatives swiftly launched a coordinated operation in collaboration with personnel of the National Forest Security Service.
The operation led to the successful recovery of the stolen motorcycle and the arrest of four suspects identified as Umaru Haruna, Habibu Kale, Kire Yelwa, and Iliyasu Gambo.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects acted in concert during the robbery. Further findings also uncovered the involvement of another individual identified simply as “Sumo,” believed to be the leader of the gang, who is currently at large.

The police disclosed that tactical and intelligence-driven efforts have been intensified to apprehend the fleeing suspect and recover weapons believed to be in his possession.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, Ojo Adekimi, commended the swift response of the operatives and the synergy with the National Forest Security Service.
He noted that the operation reflects the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and enhanced public safety.
The command assured residents that investigations are ongoing and that the arrested suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of the process.
Residents have also been encouraged to remain vigilant and continue to support security agencies with timely and credible information.
